Situation: DIY'er now, but did shop auto repair for years, know my way around a wrench. Facing seized muffler flange, some damage to threads. Wanted to salvage and rethread. Tried Stringer metric stud remover based on Amazon review. Did not engage stud for removal. My sense is the product would be fine on studs in good condition. Description could have been more specific (but that's the subject of another review). Had Mayhew for back-up. The product description clearly stated the stud remover would work on studs in all condition and boy did it! As advertised. Use in tandem with impact gun (not for hand use), and it will make your life easier. I was most impressed as it did the job with no added heat (heat will damage tool), usually a must ingredient for a successful stud removal recipe. I would recommend this highly for stud removal as the gradual tightening action is less destructive than the removers that require a hammer and if not used properly will just chew up a stud. I don't know if there is a remover that's universally successful in every situation, since positioning outside of an ideal "bench" situation can render any stud remover useless. Know your situation and it's limitations. But if you look at the picture and feel you can get it in position for your job, it will kick ass. Keep in mind when you get it, it will be bigger than you might think. Good tool.
