Vuvuzela - South African Horn - White Stadium World Cup horn Review

Vuvuzela - South African Horn - White Stadium World Cup horn
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I typically don't write reviews, but this item ticked me off. To start -- it does exactly what it's supposed to do. It makes a lot of noise if you know how to blow it -- I think one of the reviewers doesn't understand that a vuvuzela is not simply "blown". You have to properly curve your lips to make the unique noise -- if you do that, this one will do exactly that.
My beef is with the quality -- TOTAL CRAP. Made in some mold sweatshop in China .. as stamped on the plastic. It's made of two pieces which seperate for "easy storage" .. this is crap. It's not for easy storage, it's just easier to plastic mold two pieces and have the consumer worry about assembly. The two pieces "fit" into each other and remain together as a result of the force between them. As you can imagine, through repeated horn use and some disassmbly (about 4-5 times), the plastic pieces are stretching and it's harder to keep the horner in one piece. It's just a matter of time (probably by the semi-finals of the 2010 WC) that I will need to surgically put this thing back together with duct tape. Hopefully it still makes the same sound.
So for $16 bucks ($10 for the horn and $6 for shipping - also crap), you can go to your local Brasilian/Argentinian/German/Spanish area and buy three. Then you can throw them out without feeling too bad about it.
Word of advice -- don't buy this one. Go online and read reviews for something of better quality.

It is an easy way to review or learn about the Human Body. The game is a deck of cards and one dice. There is nothing to set up just take the cards out of the box and your done. If we don't have alot of time, I pick a small number like 6 and say who ever gets six cards first win. If you are going on a trip, these games are small and easy to play anywhere. The other great thing about this game is if you do lose a card the game is not ruined. You could even play it in a car.

I'm one of those parents that groan with dread as soon as my kids bring me one of the transformer toys that takes about 2,345 moves to get it from a garbage can to a robot. These are awesome because it takes about three moves to transform them, and there's a button that you press and it springs into robot form.
I loved it and it kept my son entertained for a long time.

Blunders Review

Blunders
Average Reviews:

A Review of the Board Game, "Blunders" by Games for Educators in April, 2009
There are many things that make "Blunders," an engaging game for children.
It's funny the details that we remember from events in our lives. Rarely do we remember every single happening but instead, we may bring along snippets from the various scenes we experience. One such snippet for me was a mere portion of the advice I received while taking a class on Children's Literature. That piece, given to the future children's book writers, was to avoid being preachy. Such topics are no fun for children, we were told.
Playing games follows a similar suit. When consumers choose games to purchase it is important to remember that even though they may want the game to teach them something, they also want to have fun.. Why else choose that game to play in your leisure time?
Now, as a teacher, I look for games that pack in quite a punch. I want educational, engaging, interesting, and fun. I want games that I can modify and with multiple uses. I want games that we can play for fun during recess or play in a specific class setting or for a particular purpose. No one is motivated to participate otherwise.
"Blunders" is a board game for children ages 5 to 10, which I feel fulfills my lofty requirements. The point of the game is to teach manners, but play does not revolve around any punitive actions. Play is consumed by moving along a visually appealing board, landing on either a purple, orange, or green space, and addressing a corresponding situation involving etiquette. There are 4 types of questions: Multiple Choice, Charades, True/False, and Scenarios. Topics include, but are not limited to, telephone etiquette, respecting adults, gossiping, bullying, proper table manners, and personal responsibility.
Play is easily managed by rolling a die and simply moving along the board. Young players may need assistance reading the cards, but the game can be played in teams.
The game has a personal touch in that each named has a distinct personality, completely described in the direction booklet. Brenda, for instance, possesses quite an active imagination and keen artistic talent, but lacks in polite greeting skills and gossips too much. Therefore, children may choose a character to which he/she relates.
Here are the many advantages to this board game:
1.It is fun to play.
2.It teaches a life skill.
3.Children are drawn to the personalities of the players and the situation cards.
4.It is easy enough to catch on to the strategy of play, but presents situations that require children to use thinking skills requiring the use of judgement.
5.The game can be played without adult supervision, yet a teacher can easily adapt it for use in the classroom. The charade cards present excellent opportunities to discuss etiquette in a fun manner.
6.It is visually appealing.
7.The game has a website,[...]. Teachers can use this website for writing extension activities, because it contains a link where players can submit their own "Manners Moments" or "blunderblogs" to share with others. Teachers can also download and print free educational materials.
I highly recommend "Blunders" for use at home and at school!

The Elegant Baby line of soft bath toys are of great quality. These toys, in particular, are brightly colored and have wonderful detail (considering that they are made of soft plastic). I have avoided allowing the children to play with them in the tub, however, as there have been numeroud reports about mold growing inside of the toys since one cannot completely empty/dry the inside of the toy. My children love playing with these toys as they are now teething (the soft plastic is cushiony against their gums).

Know Your Partner Review

Know Your Partner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My friend told me about this game and how fun it was, so I asked for it for Christmas and was super excited to play it...however it seems that this is an updated version of the game or something because it is structured differently than he claims the version he played (with the same name and manufacturer). In this version all you get is multiple choice questions that are mostly related to hypothetical situations. We were hoping for something more like The Newlywed Game where there are variying types of questions, and questions actually about your partner (like what is their favortie food, or their most annoying habit). Also in the other version it didn't matter so much about the partners in terms of gender, but in this version the questions are written to only play with male/female couples who are ideally romantically involved. So the game is okay, but it moves rather slowly and would probably be more fun if you were with a crowd of strangers and drunk.

CoPilot Model A Double Bike Trailer Review

CoPilot Model A Double Bike Trailer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have gotten so many complements on how cute this "buggy" is. The bike trailer is perfect for my kids (4 and 2) to ride in and they love it as well. Although they have to sit relatively close together it doesn't seem to bother them once we start riding. I did ALOT of research on ALOT of different trailers and I decided on this one because it looked more sturdy, has 20 in. wheels (for more ground clearance and smoother ride), has somewhat padded seats, and the seat is more substantial than some of the others in the same price range looked. It is also very easy switch it to a different bike because of the vice- like connector (verses the pin connector where there is a piece that has to remain attached to the bike even after the trailer has been removed). For the price I paid ($99.00- on sale, 50% off) I am very satisfied with what I got. I saw very little difference between this one and the ones that were very expensive.

The easy-rolling Copilot Model A Bike Trailer enables you to comfortably tow two children as you bike along city streets. It features a redesigned mounting system that's easy to connect to your bike and lighter, stronger spoked wheels with thorn-resistant tubes. The interior includes thick, plush padding, fully adjustable five-point harness and plenty of elbow and leg room for up to two kids (for a total of 100 pounds). When you're finished with your biking excursion, the Model A quickly converts to a stroller in just a few seconds, and it disassembles quickly when you reach home. Other features includes brightly colored fabrics that will be highly visible on the road and a storage trunk for extra clothes or groceries.

My office gets very chilly from the air conditioning in our building, so if my feet get cold, I take these lamb slippers out of my armoir, shut the door, and get back to work. They warm up my feet rather nicely, and they are so comfortable, often times, I don't want to take them off. Of course, I never leave the office with them on but, it is my dirty little secret at work, and boy, I sure love them!

Transformers Ultimate Bumblebee Review

Transformers Ultimate Bumblebee
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'd been wanting to purchase Ultimate Bumblebee since the first version was released with the first Transformers movie, but I never bought one. After seeing that a second version was being released, I decided to go ahead and pick one up, and I'm glad I did.
This is a very large Transformer with a good bit of weight. There are some pieces that feel fragile, but it is a sturdy figure overall. Its true that the transformation on this figure is somewhat complex, but once you transform it a time or two, its really not that difficult. The instructions are a little hard to follow, but using common sense goes a long way as there are a good number of holes and pegs that fit together during the transformation to vehicle mode that make it pretty obvious what to do once you've seen where the pegs line up with the holes (ie. as when putting the arms into the body).
There are a couple of reasons that I like this ROTF version better than the original. One reason is because of the updated sounds. I was never impressed with lines such as "You're my first human friend" or the repeated playing of Whip-it (not a bad song, I just didn't like it with the Bumblebee figure for some reason). The sound clips and phrases are much better in this new version in my opinion, and the inclusion of "You've got the touch" seems much more appropriate to me.
Of course there are a few things that keep this figure from being perfect. For one thing, the box clearly states that the figure responds to motion, and the instructions say that the figure responds to both voice and motion. I've had two of these figures (had to take the first one back due to a defect) and neither of them respond to voice or motion as stated. After initially pressing a button and then waiting, the figure will perform another "action" every 5 to 10 seconds of being idle up to about 30 second before going to sleep, which at first made me think it was responding to me, but then I realized that if I pressed the button once and then made no sounds or movements, it followed the exact same pattern with no movement or sound input. After having two figures with exactly the same issue, I wonder if this was a planned feature that made it to the box art, but never made it to production (as far as it being in the instruction sheet, its clear that the instructions are from the first version with a new header at the top of the page, as the figure shown in the instructions has the old style headlights on the front of the car). Please let me know in the comments if I've somehow missed the correct way to get the sound and motion sensor to work as I've even emailed Hasbro about it and their answer so far has been "we don't know."
There is also an issue where in robot mode the wings can make a loud clicking sound, almost like something is popping inside or is going to break (although I don't think it would actually break anything from this). After watching closely I've found that there are two things that can cause this. One, if the figure is posed in such a way that it's leaning slightly forward, the wings can get caught up on the tires. Making the figure stand up straight, or even with a very slight lean backwards can alleviate this issue if this is the cause. The second cause appears to be related to the rubber pieces that connect the wings to the body. Since these are kind of long and tube shaped, if they are "twisted" the wrong way when the doors are attached to the figure's back as wings, the added tension, although slight, seems to be enough to cause the clicking noise. Disconnecting the offending door(s) and rolling it 360 degrees forward or backward (depending on which way it was twisted) seems to help. Because the rubber connector is a solidly colored tube shape, its really hard to tell if it's twisted the wrong way, so some experimentation may be needed if the clicking sound is happening.
OVERALL: A very good figure that I'd recommend picking up if you're considering it. It's a great deal of fun, and the animatronics do make him seem a little more real than a normal figure. My kids love when I get Ultimate Bumblebee out, and even my wife has been telling me how cool she thinks it is, which is a first for her with any Transformer figure.
