(More customer reviews)Our 3 YO daughter received this item as an '07 Christmas gift.
Grandma was duped. She was excited about the toy being a reproduction of the original, being made of wood, etc. Not.
While the graphics match those of the original, this thing is all plastic. Dark wood-colored plastic but plastic nevertheless. Made in China with an authentic "Fisher Price East Aurora New York" logo.
As for the bouncing antenna, well, forget that. The original toy had soft springs for antenna shafts and the antennae did bounce. On this toy? Hard black plastic. No bouncing. Nada. That didn't stop the manufacturer from noting the bouncing antenna as a feature on the packaging.
Speaking of packaging, this thing is locked into the box as if is a Faberge egg being shipped via a cannon shot. It's unbelievable what you have to go through to get the thing out. About 8 stiff wire tires, plastic reinforcements, tape over the wire ties... Why?
Did I mention the 8" pull string. Probably some liability concern regading strangling. I hope your kid is short, real short. Or has very long arms. The manufacturer should have taken the money spent on wire ties to make the pull string longer.
In the final analysis it is a fun toy for toddlers but I think that it's mis-represented.
